At least nine people have died and many others injured in the aftermath of two separate train derailments that happened today in Lagos.
The first accident happened in the Agege area of the city, when a train reportedly rammed into a vehicle that was parked across the railway. Four passengers who were hanging ontop of the train (as it is usually the case in Lagos) were said to have died instantly upon impact. Many others were injured.
The second accident happened along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, near Kara Bridge. Five persons died and nearly twenty others were injured.
The causes of the accidents are yet to be made public.
